his smile drops a little at that remark, a sigh escaping him. ]
What, just because I'm offering to be your tour guide for the day?
[ maybe he's not even a good tour guide!! also, don't answer that. ]
But no, the trials themselves take place at the opera house. [ because of course they would. ] This is the Palais Mermonia, where all major administrative work takes place. The Chief Justice has his office here, as does Lady Furina. It's the central hub of the city, with the shopping and entertainment districts down below.
[ please. she's got the hots for one guide already she isn't gonna get them for a second. but wriothesley might be fun to tease like this with that reaction... she can't help it, malkuth's been having a blast teasing people she knows. that aren't her coworkers. ]
Palais Mermonia... Administration... Chief Justice and Lady Furina have their offices here, and below is shopping and entertainment, including that wonderful pastry shop you mentioned.
[ sorry. she needs to repeat things to remember them if she's not actively writing them down. she doesn't have the headspace to. ]
Got it. And no, not just because of that, but I think you'd sooner chat up this city than hear me compliment you further. [ she only knows men who won't take one. ] Oooh, I don't know where I'd like to go first...!
[ the administrative building? the opera house? the shopping and entertainment? a picture's worth a thousand words, but she's got a thousand questions. ]
I'll take the compliment when I think I'm deserving of it. As it stands, basic human courtesy should be a given.
[ even if he knows it's not most of the time. but since he's the unofficial tour guide today, he may as well help direct their walk. ]
But if you're looking to cover the most ground in the least amount of time, I'd suggest a walk through the Lyonnais and Narbonnais quarters [ hate these french-ass names ] followed by a scenic ride on the aquabus to the Opera Epiclese.
[ it isn't though, which is why it's so nice to her and the others from her world... something worth celebrating and rewarding. even though she tries to be courteous to them, too.
also those are some
fucking names alright. kind of reminds her of the cinq association, which she's only read about. ]
The main mode of transportation between the major hubs in Fontaine.
[ the main, slow-ass mode of transportation. motorcycles are so much faster, man. they need to invent water motorcycles in fontaine. ]
Similar to a [ hmmmm ] bus in Neo-Tokyo, though it travels on waterways rather than paved streets. I mentioned before that Fontaine is a series of islands. [ and if he didn't, he should have. ] Unless you're a particularly talented swimmer, taking the aquabus is usually the easier method of getting around.
[ oh....... that sounds so nice though!!!! she loves the bus!!!! ]
So they're that far apart, huh? Let's do that route, then! And tell me how to spell those names later, there's no way I'm getting it on my own. I wasn't the Librarian of Language.
Regardless, onwards they down, down the nearest lift (which is painfully slow) and through to the shopping and entertainment districts, featuring such places as Cafe Lutece ("the most popular cafe this side of Fontaine"), Chioriya Boutique ("I hear the wait times to order a dress in advance are obscene"), and The Steambird ("no other publication is read as widely across Teyvat as this one"). ]
[ king you have to understand the bus is beautiful and scenic and there are so many fun and interesting people that take up the space there and she hasn't been harassed for being a cute young lady who looks like she needs a date to whatever her next stop is on one!
anyway! the architecture is so... rounded, in a way. they're smooth without being overly so, it's a clean edge with such distinction across every building he points out that it's easy to tell, even at a distance, what they hold.
cafe lutece's hanging umbrella, mimicking a lamp's shade, gets her hand to try and push it; it doesn't swing, naturally, but malkuth seems delighted anyway as she waltzes around the set up and peers inside. the colors are so nice... uniform, but without it being boring.
next is chioriya boutique, which malkuth seems a little shyer in exploring. the design of it is so beautiful, so elegant, and the dresses in the window... are too fancy for a plainer girl like her, but it doesn't stop her from putting a hand to the glass and staring inside. march would look lovely in them, she thinks. herself... maybe just trying too hard. but at least the architecture is interesting, resembling the very thing it sells, and she'll pull herself away before it gets too suspicious as she trails along.
last but not least, a publishing house. a tall, dignified building she could imagine to be bustling with activity. if she hadn't wanted to be an architect... maybe she could've been a reporter instead. at least in other places they seem to matter, though in the city they're more like entertainment than not. but the written word is attractive, as someone who pens a thousand things a day herself just to remember what she's done, doing, and going to do. the. bird? in the emblem is round and adorable; it's important to keep in mind smaller touches like that, she thinks, along with how it fits in with the things around it...
... but to create a building no one could ever forget, could ever look away from, it'd have to stand out, wouldn't it? hmmm. she really wishes she had her notebook, but it's fine. this should... record like any other implant use, shouldn't it? ]
It's all so elegant here... This is sort of what Nests resemble for the most part back in the City, though depending on where you lived there were differences even for the well-off folks. For example, you'd never see so much... No, you'd never see any color at all on my side of the Nest -- that was for the more affluent. Sounds weird, doesn't it?
